HOW MUCH WILL THE SoHo BS BID COST?

a

The proposed annual SoHo BID Budget is now set to start at $550,000,

a

Money collected through an assessment – aka a NEW TAX – via the NYC taxman.

a

Those ADDED COSTS will be PASSED ON to BUSINESSES up and down Broadway.

a

Those behind the BS BID state that the BID’s main purpose will be to sweep the sidewalks and bag trash along Broadway.  BUT LOOK at the current SoHo BID Budget: they’ve earmarked a whopping $200,000 just for the BS BID salaries and administration – more than one third of the money that they will collect from locals. For their primary stated purpose – sanitation services – the BS BID has set aside $200,000 – an equal chunk of the SoHo BID budget.

$200,000 to administer a $200,000 job?????  Where’s the business sense behind this BS BID?

And WHO will PAY for the SoHo BS BID?

YOU will!

If the SoHo BS BID is approved by the NY City Council, all district property owners will be assessed BID fees based on a confusing formula devised by those promoting the SoHo BS BID. As in all NYC BIDs, over time these ASSESSMENTS will GROW, leading to increased residential and commercial rents and adding to the cost of doing business in SoHo.

You can’t opt out THE BID LAW MANDATES PARTICIPATION!

Because this BS BID can TAKE ON DEBT for capital projects, local property owners can be forced to incur debt amounting to seven percent of the “average full valuation of taxable real property in the district,” according to NYC lawProperty owners will shoulder these additional BS BID costs, above and beyond the initial budget. Over time this BS BID DEBT can INCREASE to millions of dollars, as it has in other NYC BIDs. You will have little or no say in the matter.

To put it simply:  The SoHo BS BID will bring Taxation without Representation.

Is this how you want your neighborhood to be run?

If not, join with us in lobbying the City Council to

REJECT THE SoHo BID
